こんにちは、運営者です。

これまでに複数のオンライン英会話サービスを契約してきましたが、その中でEFイングリッシュライブはダントツの品質・サービスでお気に入りです！プライベートレッスンもグループレッスンどちらも大満足で毎日楽しく受講しています。

「オンライン英会話受講を悩んでいる」「EFイングリッシュライブでどのようなことを学べるのか気になる」という方のために、私がとあるひと月に先生からいただいたフィードバックをもとに英会話で使える！という部分をまとめてみました。

本当に自分用メモレベルなので、まとめ方が汚いのはご容赦ください…！

EF Englishプライベートレッスンのいいところ

プライベートレッスンは20分です。他のオンライン英会話に比べたら時間短い？と思いがちですが、ネイティブの先生と頭を使いながら会話しなければいけない時間はとっても実践に近くて十分すぎる時間です！むしろ20分より長かったら集中力がもたないかも…

プライベートレッスンのフィードバックからお勉強しよう！

では先生からもらったフィードバックを抜粋してご紹介します。ライティングと異なり、会話の中では簡単な文法が崩れたりミスをしがち。またネイティブらしい表現を教えてもらえたりします！一緒に学んでいきましょう。

紹介する英文は、主にレッスン中に先生がオンラインノートに書いてくれたものから抜粋しています。他にも、プライベートレッスンはレッスン後に先生から結構詳しいコメントが届くのでそれももとにしています。

トピック：どんな土地に住みたい？

坂道とかがあると嫌だなぁと言いたい時

costと副詞の使い方

Do you think it costs a lot/more to rent an apartment? If you go far it costs less.

lessは副詞なので動詞（ここではcost）にかかる

If you go far it is affordable.

affordableは形容詞なのでitにかかる

cheapとか、ネイティブらしくなさすぎる単語はやめましょうね

when you are cycling on the road, you have to wear a helmet

私は「道」の表現に詰まりました。

いろいろな道の呼び方についてまとめたのでこちらをご覧ください。

Do you feel safe here in the office?

In my workplace, yes, it is safe We need one, but we don’t have it You should say: They want to control their employees.

トピック：お引っ越し

You shared your personal experience, relating how you survived your first day in the office where you work. You said you had a half-day orientation, and met with other new colleagues, had lunch together, and talked with the CEO. Then, after reading the introductory letter in today's lesson, you learned the proper stress for pronouncing a few common words, and you learned a new word, too! You also identified a number of things that could go wrong on the first day. After that, you demonstrated your ability to engage in an effective conversation, role-playing your arrival at the new company.

この日はsyllableについてたくさん教えてもらえました。

基本的すぎる単語についてもイントネーションを間違えて覚えていたことを知りとてもショック。

今気づけてよかったです…

自己紹介の際に東京で「一番好きな場所」をお話ししました。とってもいい刺激。ちゃんと答えられなかったのでライティング何なりで復習必須です。

NB: use comparative language.

n.b.で注意って意味なんですね

comparative languageで比較級ですね

e.g. Big cities like Tokyo are more crowded so it’s very frustrating to commute to work with traffic.

You can communicate much more than before. You spend much money on gadgets and technology.

赤字です。収入より多くなってしまっている状態。

Do you often have to do overtime?

「残業する」はdo overtimeだけでいいんですね。do overtime workかと思っていました。

Do you have time to do your favorite hobbies? Well sort of because…. I like to study and programming on the computer.

workとlifeを完全に分けるのは難しいという私の意見について

It’s difficult to divide time in my life.

devide timeでいいんですね！無駄な冠詞とかは不要、と。

毎日2時間残業

I usually put in two hours of overtime each day. We’re supposed to get time off in lieu, but we’re usually too busy for that.

in lieu of ~で「〜の代わりに」という意味だそうです。

知らなかった…！

I never get enough time to spend with my family.

neverはやばいですね。

I’d work from home two days a week.

I’dなので願望ですね

Overtime will be compensated well.

compensatedはしっかり使えるようにならないとですね。

トピック：会社での怪我（労災？）

My boss fell down in the office (use the past tense “fell”)

She fell down the stairs

She is waiting for someone by the stairs (use the prepositions “for”, “by”)

I will wait someone with her
→ I will wait with her until someone comes to help (sentence structure)

• Words related to injuries:

slipped / fell over /

sprained

/ cut / doctor / bandage / antiseptic cream / infected / first-aid kit / ambulance

actiseptic（消毒）ってcream…！

• Talking about injuries at work:

I slipped on the wet floor. / I fell over. / I’ve sprained my wrist. / I cut my hand. / I think you should see the doctor. / I’ve got a bandage and some antiseptic cream. / I don’t want the cut to become infected.

Stroke （脳卒中）
A stroke occurs when the blood supply to part of your brain is interrupted or reduced, preventing brain tissue from getting oxygen and nutrients. Brain cells begin to die in minutes. A stroke is a medical emergency, and prompt treatment is crucial.

Concussion （脳震盪）
A concussion is a traumatic brain injury that affects your brain function. Effects are usually temporary but can include headaches and problems with concentration, memory, balance and coordination. Concussions are usually caused by a blow to the head

Tips:

Gather your thoughts. Take a second to think about what you’re going to say. You know the grammar, but maybe you don’t use it correctly when you speak.

わかりにくいから落ち着いて言いたいことまとめてから話せってことですね。その通りです笑

If you get nervous when speaking, take two deep breaths before you say something. You’ll speak better when you feel relaxed.

ものすごく焦って見えたんだろうか…

Surround yourself in English. Put yourself in an all English speaking environment where you can learn passively. The best way to learn is through speaking.

Practice every day. Make yourself a study plan. Decide how much time a week you are going to spend studying and stick to it. Establish a routine. Tell your family and friends about your study plan. Get them to push you to study and also don’t let them interrupt you.

TIPS ON HOW TO IMPROVE YOUR ENGLISH?

Please do one of these things every day to improve your English:

1.READ something you enjoy. You can read a book, an article or a magazine about a topic or story you like or are interested in. You don’t have to read a very long passage in a single day. Read to understand and if you don’t understand, please look for the meaning of words in the dictionary.

2.SPEAK as often as you can with people who speak fluent or average English. You can go to shopping malls, restaurants, social areas or places of entertainment where you can meet new people and chat in English. Think about what you will say before you say it.

3.LISTEN to English audio books, music, news and watch movies. Do not use subtitles when you watch movies.

4.WRITE summaries of things you have read and listened to in your own words. Or you can keep a journal in English.

5.VOCABULARY is only kept through continuous use. So use the word many times in different sentences all the time e.g. the word “great”. I had a great day today. My weekend was great. I feel great

将来のことを話す時、仮定法が頻出します。

今回の先生は例文をたくさんあげてくれました。

maybe when I have enough experience, I will be able to work from home or more remotely.

I woulldでも良いということでした。

maybe I will have enough experience and I will be able to work from home or more remotely. I like going to the mountains, so it’s good to have a small house in the mountain.

• Talking about plans:

keep doing the same thing / happy with what I’m doing / stay in the same industry / make a change / career path

• Describing intentions:

I don’t want to … / I don’t plan to… / I wouldn’t mind to … / It’d be nice to …

• Future perfect:

e.g. by next month, I’ll have worked here for 10 years
